Proton Technologies is one step closer to producing clean air and pure hydrogen.
H2 View: “The Canadian company recently received a license to operate a steam generator at its demonstration facility near Superb, Saskatchewan.”
Steam injection along with air injection allows Proton Technologies to generate more hydrogen.
“Hydrogen sales are a stable cash stream, while oil will clearly not be,” Proton Technologies said.
“Proton strongly hopes that many oil operators in Canada will convert some of their existing assets toward a stable baseload hydrogen stream that they can use to add as fuel to natural gas, make electricity, produce steam, sell as transportation fuel, upgrade heavy oil/bitumen, or make ammonia necessary for fertiliser.”
Overcoming this significant milestone allows Proton to focus on the next ones; drilling a dedicated hydrogen well and building a truck loading terminal capable of offloading five tonnes of hydrogen per day, planned for summer 2020.
Stantec has also completed a design for an oxygen plant and related hydrogen processing system, using two well-proven technologies to limit risk.
This allows Proton Technologies to replace its steam to produce hydrogen more efficiently.
Soon, the company will demonstrate to industry and Albertans that eradicating air pollution and emissions can be lucrative, and hydrogen will proliferate in Canada!
