British Columbia gets its second hydrogen station in Burnaby

British Columbia’s second hydrogen refueling station has officially opened in Burnaby.

H2-View “Commissioned through a partnership between Shell Canada and Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC), the new station will provide hydrogen electric vehicle drivers in the province with a second refueling option.”

“Drivers of hydrogen electric vehicles have clocked millions of miles and refuelled hundreds of thousands of times at stations around the world. Here in BC, HTEC is excited to be building fuelling infrastructure with partners like Shell,” said Colin Armstrong, HTEC’s CEO.

“Together, we’re making hydrogen vehicles a practical and feasible zero emission choice for consumers and supporting the growing fleet of vehicles rolling onto BC roads.”

The new hydrogen station follows the Toyota Mirai becoming available for purchase by fleet operators at authorised Mirai dealerships in Quebec and British Columbia.

“Toyota believes achieving significant overall carbon reduction will require the advancement of multiple technologies, including hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles,” said Stephan Beatty, Vice-President and Corporate Secretary of Toyota Canada Inc.

“Bring these technologies to market requires the development of new energy infrastructure, so today’s announcement represents another important step in this process.”
