H2-View: “The number of public hydrogen stations globally has quadrupled in the past five years and an additional 226 stations are currently in the planning stage. That’s according to the 12th annual assessment of H2stations.org, an information service of Ludwig-Bölkow-Systemtechnik (LBST).”
In 2019 alone, 83 hydrogen refueling stations went into operation worldwide. 36 in Europe, 38 in Asia, nine in North America and one in the Arabian region, the assessment highlights.
Europe showcased 177 hydrogen stations at the end of 2019, with 87 of those in Germany.
France has the second highest amount of hydrogen stations, with 26 now operational and a further 34 planned.
A significantly increasing number of stations are also projected for the Netherlands, where 21 new hydrogen stations have been planned.
According to the results, by the end of 2019, 432 hydrogen fuelling stations were operational worldwide, 330 of which were publicly accessible.
Results also highlighted a total of 178 stations in Asia, consisting of 114 in Japan and 33 in Korea, and 27 in China which are used almost exclusively for the refuelling of buses and truck fleets.
H2stations.org also reported that the majority of the 74 stations in North America continue to be located in California which now has 48 operating stations.
